10 - Step Approach to ETHICAL DECISION - MAKING

1. What is happening?

*I'm pressed with time and the matter of unassurance in choosing a career path. I'm very much interested in Communication Arts/Mass Communication, which is supposedly my primary choice; however, my dad is very particular in the field of Business and he insists I do not take Mass Communication (for whatever reason he has). Comparing these courses, I think I would outstandingly excel at Mass Comm, since this sector suits my interest and I therefore believe that such a course would offer much more interesting opportunities for me.

2. Journalistic Goals

*Focusing on short - term goals, I am fixated first in, of course, giving my best performance in High School -- not only academically, but together with my co - curricular activities and the projection and exposure of my talents. Second, I should discuss this matter/concern with my parents (esp. Dad) for their enlightenment regarding my interests and futuristic goals and visions which I see ahead of me. Moreover, this suggestion would hopefully help me in deciding for my course in College.

3. Ethical Concerns

*I cannot avoid and make ignorance as a resolution to my problem. I know for a fact, the more I prolong such concern, would prolong such burden for me in critical thinking. I just do not know how to contradict and suggest recognition into an opposing thought/idea to my father who has different visions and futuristic plans for me. I understand he may probably see a brighter future in the course of Business; however, he does not recognize the idea of my interests in which I can easily excel.

4. Do I need more points of view?

*Yes. Come to think of it, I need to talk to more people who have experienced similar situations; then this would probably encourage me to take a few steps forward into reaching my objectives.

5. Who are the stakeholders?/Who are involved?

*Basically, my dad and I have contrasting and opposing thoughts on the matter. But then again, I hope he encourages and supports my course of interest as he recognizes the establishment of my personal strengths, in which I would want to experience and discover in such conquest of learning and personal interest.

6. What are the consequences of my actions?

*Passivity would just dig me a deeper grave. I always go by my principle -- Passivity may be an action; but never a character. (I made it up) Especially in dealing with decisions like these, I can never be justified by passivity. If no action is promoted then I know that I would have to work my way into a career (which I dont approve of) with a blank face and smile (not going to happen♥). At the end of the day, I would want to feel every inch of gratification and self - satisfaction through exploring my world of interest. I just can't see enough interest for me to recognize in the course of Business.

7. What if roles are reversed?
*If I were dad, I would probably listen and have an open eye on why my kid would take up such course. Not only that, I’d probably notice then the significance of decision making and support, on which my daughter is trying to establish through her manner of discussing to me her future objectives.

8. Am I doing what is right?
*Yes. I am introducing to my dad small doses of my career path. I know it would upset him if he would have to swallow it in one sitting.

9. Alternatives.

*Well, I cannot see any other alternative on this situation since it is my responsibility in choosing and prioritizing the significance of decision making. It is a major decision I have to make soon and I would not want to screw part of my life by not following my own interest. There is NO PLAN B. :))

10. Can I justify my own decisions and actions?

*Yes of course, I know that at a certain point I have to live with independence; and this is one way of making my dad proud as well. :)

See, It's NOT THAT BAD.


This video clip is so hilarious. A SCHOOL DAY never passed by without me watching this video clip all over again ever since I received this from an e - mail last week. The veracity of such behavior is what makes it interesting. Come to think of it, the ideal image of an employee is someone with a briefcase in his business attire WORKING endless hours with his COMPUTER; however this video clip suggests otherwise, wherein, THREE employees (Don't forget the business attire and their hilarious office set - up.) DITCHED WORK (!) for GOLF (!!). And what's great about it is that it proposes a big deal of laughter because of the realistic portrayal of pathetic liars trying to escape from work [Hey you got to give them an A for EFFORT] :))

And yea, they are in the middle of some SERIOUS BUSINESS.

I am guessing Mr. Boss can't do anything about it.

FILM REVIEW: SAW IV.

WARNING: This blog entry contains spoilers from SAW IV.

"The game has just begun. And it's a TRAP." -- Jigsaw won't leave untested.

Viewed from an introspection, the film was purely educational.

Objectively, the film entails a psychological warfare beset by a series of bloody spectacles. Outwardly, the storyline and intertwined concepts are fantastic -- each scene requires psychiatric discernment. Concepts on Jigsaw's set - ups and 'games' were psychologically disturbing (yet extremely entertaining) -- which dismembered my amazement. However, the shock factor was very minimal since it was very much like the prequel; which led to a predictable suspense thriller [an oxymoron of some sort :))] Set - ups were unthinkable and unimaginably executed that some supposed suspense and gory impacts were lost and transformed into a whole load of laughter. It also had too many loop holes; major intertwined concepts and events were left unanswered. Hanging and uber - confusing plot left me frantically interested [that I had to check out Wikipedia and read its plot thrice :))].

Yes, it will leave you with every ounce of disturbment and amazement on the developing concepts. It encompasses psychological trauma, dismemberments, engagement of problem solving -- all accounted by a suspense - thrilling series of FUN and BLOODY games.

FEEL what he FEELS. SEE what he SEES. SAVE as he SAVES.

Then you will know how to CHERISH YOUR LIFE.

1. PROPAGANDA

• According to Garth S. Jowett and Victoria O'Donnell in Propaganda and Persuasion, Propaganda is the deliberate, systematic attempt to share perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist.
• It is a concerted set of messages aimed at influencing the opinions or behavior of the majority. Instead of impartially providing information, it presents information in order to influence its audience. It is often completely truthful, but some propaganda presents facts selectively to encourage a particular synthesis.

2. POPULAR LITERATURE

• Popular literature includes those writings intended for the masses and those that find favour with large audiences. It can be distinguished from artistic literature in that it is designed primarily to entertain. Popular literature, unlike high literature, generally does not seek a high degree of formal beauty or subtlety and is not intended to endure.

• Popular literature is written by journalists, who are employed by the magazine for which they write. 3. REACT on DISCRIMINATION in MEDIA

Re: WOMEN.

Gender Discrimination has been prominent especially on women. Women are being viewed as subservient individuals of society. Its a sad reality and predestination that women are being treated as inferior bodies of humanity. However, I am appalled by the many organizations that upbring the power of women which give rise to civilization. Here, women are now being mindset that we are all people with equal rights and authority based on what we do and for who we are. I am glad that presently, women fight for their power in humanity and do not act as subservient indiviuals to men and society. Nevertheless, there are many women who still do not see their worth as equal individuals; regardless of their state, they sometimes tend to follow discrimination. Many sitcoms and movies (e.g. 300, Desperate Housewives, etc) portray the 'use' of women in society. They depict women as individuals for sexual pleasure and use them as tools for personal worth and 'reputable' gain. It saddens me that by this strong reality, we are supposedly predestined to live equally; however not all women see the truth and scandal of gender discrimination. Most of them do not fight for it; they affrim and act majorly with inferiority.

Do I look like a woman of subservience in society? Or to anyone (but my parents)? :))
